Maria Reyes-Jones, American, b. 1962, currently resides in Longwood,
Florida. She holds a Masters Degree in Fine Art from Florida State University
and has been the recipient of numerous First Place Awards and Honors
from National Exhibitions. Her series of works include "Scenes
from the Road" inspired by the many road trips she takes now and
while growing up in a military family; and on a more humorous note are
the paintings from the "Dog and Cat Series"--inspired by her
love of animals, especially her own four dogs and two cats. The "Palm"
trees of her home State were the inspirations for a group of paintings
based upon the many moods of her favorite tree. Her "Other"
series is of an even more personal nature. These paintings involve a
layering of surface and image to create a complex and often ambiguous
meaning. "They have a little bit of mystery in them--questions
unanswered--leaving space for the viewer to enter and respond from their
own life experience".
